Dear future...

I may not know what you have in store for all of us but here is what I predict. Our work is becoming harder year after year, but this is no surprise to many. With all the restrictions, requirements, needs and constant changes no wonder many are fleeing from this wonderful profession. However I truly hope one can truly see beyond the catastrophic scenarios and be present in building the future together by taking these challenges and gear them up with existing prospective better beginnings.

Taking off on a negative attitude will lead to further disappointments, and whilst I truly understand one's frustrations, we can't keep dwelling on what makes us feel so blue. I take the stand for my own future by providing the next generation with enough hope, perseverance, courage, stamina and room to enjoy the outcome of failures too. The past has taught us many wonders, given us plenty of gifts and showered us with endless memories. It is up to the present to make our future worth looking forward too and I am ready to continue building it so.

My students will continue to grow into beautiful human beings, be it with or without a degree. They would accomplish several milestones whether they stay at home or build a career. Love would shower them in many forms, be it through marriage, child-bearing, furry babies or simply by loving oneself. Their wealth would be measured by their own happiness and not by currency. My students worth would remain as important as today and their growth will still make an impact to the next generation and the ones after. Their abilities would guide them to progress, make choices and deliver. They would shine even when the limelight is not focused on them and they would rise to any occasion.

Their efforts may not always be what they initially hoped for but I'm positive that in the long run they would get there. They would push through, make way and move on. They would fall, stand, fall and stand again because after all that is what we do. The lights may dim but keeping hope alive would eventually resurface the spark and burn the fire to learn, grow and develop new skills. If one is not yet ready, it's because time is working at a different pace, however time would not forget about the wonderful little moments. They are captured and stored until they are required further along.

You see dear future, no matter what you throw at them from this young age and in this present moment, we know that one way or another they would grow into something bigger than any of us could have every imagined. So if you think just because they are young, they are not worth your time, I sit here and pounder if you truly know what the future is all about.

My future is the same as everyone else's. It has different chapters, multiple characters, ever changing dynamics and by far it is constantly changing. I therefore dare to dream, dare to imagine and dare to believe, that the treasures I have in my care, are indeed my beautiful future too. They would be the ones to carry me forward when I need support, they would be the ones I seek when I am in despair, they would be the ones who lift me up when I fall and above all they would be the ones to conquer and make this world move on.

So as you can see dear future, no matter how near or far, we are preparing for whatever you have planned for us. Our destination is in the hands of so many, but our desire to get there grows with us daily. We start from home, we progress at school and move together as a community. This is the reason why I look past the negative moments that are in my presence, so I could ensure my future is as good as it could ever be.

Until you are ready for us, we will continue to make it work through every hardship, every struggle and every life lesson, because unless we embrace them we won't be able learn and carry on. Cheers to the future because without the past and the present there is nothing to look forward to next.
